Tom Evans Krause is the president of the Puget Sound
Senior Baseball League, located in the Seattle-Tacoma area, and has been honored in
2016 by MSBL Founder and President Steve Sigler as a recipient of the
prestigious MSBL Lifetime Achievement Award.
Tom’s home town is Minneapolis and he currently resides in Lynnwood, Washington with his wife Nicole. They have two children: Andrew, who
attended the University of Washington and is now a software engineer, and daughter Allison, who is currently a Biology major also at the University of Washington.
"I spent 21 years as a professional radio DJ, Program
Director and Operations Manager and Consultant,” explained Krause. "My second career for the past 22 years (and counting) has been in higher education working as Director of Broadcast Operations, Department Head, and Instructor at Seattle area's Green River College.”
Regarding Tom’s baseball resume, he has been playing in the Puget Sound Senior Baseball League since 1995 and has been the league’s president since 2006.
As a player Tom has been a part of ten PSSBL Division
Championships while winning his first PSSBL championship in 1997, six days
after having staples removed from a second consecutive cancer surgery. He
remembers playing first base and going 1-3 with an RBI in the win. Primarily a first baseman, he once put together a string of 44 errorless games spanning two PSSBL regular seasons.
What are some of the achievements that stand out from this
very worthwhile baseball journey in the great northwest? "It's been a privilege to have organized and played in
six PSSBL games for charity at Safeco Field, home of the Mariners,” explained Tom. "Serving on our non-profit league board since 2000 allows me the honor of being the longest tenured board member in league history.”
Tom has also served on the staff of the Seattle Mariners
Fantasy Camp from 2010 to 2013 alongside Dave Henderson and has participated in
12 consecutive MSBL World Series from 2005 to the present. His 2007 MSBL
World Series Puget Sound Gators won it all in 2007 and Tom’s team won again this
year, 2016, as the Puget Sound Twins.
"My 2012 induction into the MSBL National Hall of Fame was
so very special, but this Lifetime Achievement Award is incredible and almost
impossible to fathom – especially when I see some of the names on the list like Tom Prendergast, Steve Rosenburg and Dan Piro. I am extremely
humbled and thankful to be recognized with such an illustrious group.”
Tom concludes, "This honor is shared with all the board members, GM's, and players - past and present - who have helped make our Puget Sound Senior Baseball League one of the premier sports organizations in the US."
