Author of 'Baseball's Longest Games' Requests Your Assistance
Submitted by Philip Lowry, author, 'Baseball's Longest Games'
My name is Philip Lowry and I reside in Minneapolis and am a
long-time MSBL participant. Over ten
years of our research has produced 868 baseball games, at all levels and in all
nations, which have lasted 20 innings or more. This past year we published our findings published in a book entitled 'Baseball's Longest Games'. Let me explain what we have so far, what we
are looking for and how you can help. For example:
20 innings –---- Wehrle Park, Charleston, West Virginia -
6/27/1915 – Ohio State League – Lexington Colts 5 Charleston Senators 2 in
3:25.
50 innings –---- Akashi Tocalo Stadium, Akashi, Japan –
8/28/2014 and 8/29/2014 and 8/30/2014 and 8/31/2014 – Nan-Shiki High School
Tournament Semi-Final – Chukyo High School 3 Sotoku High School 0 in 10 hours
18 minutes; suspended on August 28 at 12:51 PM after 15 innings and 2:52;
suspended for a second time on August 29 at 2:24 PM after 30 innings and 6:16;
suspended for a third time on August 30 at 2:04 PM after 45 innings and 9:18 –
finished at 10:02 AM on August 31 - 5000 fans on August 31.
The second edition of my book Baseball's Longest Games is soon going to print, in the Fall of 2017.
So far, although the book includes 935 games of 20 innings or more, there are zero MSBL games included.
It stands to reason that in the 30 years from 1988 to 2017 there must
have been some such long marathons in the MSBL. If you know of one,
please let me know
via e-mail at plowry1176@aol.com
I will be sure to include your entry in the book. Thank you. Philip Lowry
