Eckhart, Hubert and Gould Share the Spotlight!
By Steve LaMontia, Director of Communications
Michael Eckhart from the 18+ Des Moines Thunder is one of
our players of the week for his performance against the Bandits in the league
Championship games last Sunday.
Eckhart went 3 for 4 in a game where hits and runs were hard
to come by. Mike hit a pair of singles and a 2-run home run that would prove to
be the winning runs in a close final score of 2-1! Without this type of
performance from Mike, the Thunder would not have won the league regular season
title, and this is just one game of many he paved the way for the Thunder. This was his second home run of the season
and he now has the highest average on the team among players playing more than
six games this season for the team. Mike was hitting .371 going into the playoffs and also led the team with 12 RBI.
'Hubert and Gould Lead the Bandits to 15-0-1 Record in L.A.'
Last week the Westlake Bandits improved to 15-0-1 by
dominating the KC Royals 22-5 in their 35+ Continental Division of the Los
Angeles Baseball League with a 22-5 victory. The Bandits were led by third
baseman Darren Hubert, who had a perfect day at the plate going 5 for 5 with
two home runs and four RBI. Hubert leads
the Bandits with 19 RBI for the season, boasts a .356 batting average and is
tied with teammate Andrew Schwindt for the home run lead with three.
From the mound, Jeff Gould saw his scoreless streak end at
38 innings but his earned run average sits at an astonishing 0.58 for the
season after 43 innings and only one earned run given up.
