Six more champions will be crowned this weekend.  We’ll be sure to get their game summaries to you as soon as we can.  Their complete game stories should be appearing on our national website sometime next week. Congratulations to the Suncoast Suns, Carolina Pirates, EC Cardinals, Long Island Tides and New Jersey Pirates!

Dunedin, FL., November 11, 2017 - There’s no doubt that’s it’s a tough feat to bring a group together in unison to win a championship. For the Suncoast Suns, they’re hoping to keep the band together a little bit longer after the 55+ National tournament results. Suncoast pitcher Jim Kearschner pitched a complete game, striking out six batters en route to the Suns defeating the Puerto Rico Athleticos 5-2 at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium on Saturday morning. Suns manager Peter Moran’s wishes to his championship winning group afterwards was to vow to return and defend their title.

By Andy Villamarzo, special to MSBL

Clearwater, FL., November 11, 2017 - The injury bug can be devastating for any team hoping to win a national championship and that’s exactly what the South Atlanta Twins got an experience of in Saturday’s 45+ Central title game versus the New Jersey Pirates. With less than 16 players and tired legs in the infield, the Twins were no match for the juggernaut Pirates, whom piled up a total of 30 runs on the day en route to defeating South Atlanta 13-0 in seven innings. The tournament’s Most Valuable Player was New Jersey pitcher Craig Marsden, who was a late add on for the Pirates before the tourney began.

18+ National

Long Island Tides 5, Georgia Barons 4

By Chris Errington, special to MSBL

Clearwater, FL., November 12, 2017 – A year after a heartbreaking blown save cost Long Island a Fall Classic title,C.J. Ferriggi tossed seven stellar innings in a 5-4 nail biter. Albert Neff earned his second save of the day (also semifinal) by escaping an eighth-inning jam that saw a 5-0 Barons lead dwindled to a single run.
