Summaries and Timelines: Moving Forward after the MSBL World Series

By Steve LaMontia, Director of Communications

Hello everyone!  Lots going on in the MSBL baseball world.  I also need to take a moment to come up for air and explain where I have been aiming my focus and what lies ahead.

The annual MSBL World Series is the Mardi Gras, Super Bowl and the cherry on top of the MSBL sundae year.  It takes a monumental effort behind the scenes to pull this off, report on it and wind up standing.  No, I’m not remotely speaking of just me.  I am just a small piece of that puzzle.  315 teams converged on the Arizona desert to compete and that requires umpires, schedules, somewhere to play, problems to solve, rain drops to avoid and phones to answer that ring 24 hours a day.  Then you throw in our nearly simultaneous Fall Classic taking place in Florida. That coverage also requires reporters and pictures and needs to be reported on.  Why do I mention all of this?  Well, something has to take a hit and some personal stories sent to me from all of you and your league champion updates had to stay on deck for a few weeks.

I am safely back in my home office in Colorado and my priority is to get all World Series and Fall Classic final stories completed and posted on the MSBL website, as well as the World Series Hall of Fame stories now ready to be posted after their presentations in Arizona .  Then I can dig in to the normal duties of a Director of Communications. Once again I apologize to all of the League Champions out there whose stories have been waiting.  I haven’t forgotten.  I love compiling your achievements and look forward to catching up and getting your stories in the League Champions section of the website. Please remember, I want to hear from you!  Let me know what’s going on with you and your leagues.  You can send photos and stories to msbllamontia@aol.com.  We’d love to share them.

A wonderful byproduct of this World Series is that we used a combination of our national website, Facebook page, Twitter page and daily e-mail blast to all members to convey the details of the tournament as never before.  I hope you enjoyed staying in the loop.  We will be utilizing these techniques going forward to make sure you know what’s going on across the MSBL nation all year long.  Please visit our Facebook page and Twitter page throughout the months ahead.  We’ll keep you up to date on what’s going on in the MSBL world and anything baseball. We have turned the corner and hope you’re ready for the ride.

It was wonderful visiting with many of you in Arizona and I look forward to seeing everyone again in 2017 at our very special 30th anniversary of the MSBL World Series

Take care, play safe and we'll see you at the Hot Stove!
